If you're reading this then you know I'm joining the Peace Corps and thus the purpose for this blog. I also have another blog but I am restricting it's use for family and close friends as some content may not be suitable for an official Peace Corps blog. However, if you would like to read that one as well, leave me a comment and I will consider adding you to my list.
The major reason why I'm starting this blog is to keep up to date all my wonderful friends, family, and "curvy" women from work who have asked me numerous times to keep them in the loop. So, here you go!
The most recent Peace Corps news is that I've turned in all my application paperwork now and I am just waiting for a nomination which is kinda the official "you're in" thing. Once I'm nominated to a region by my recruiter, someone in DC will review my file and invite me to a country for service, at which point I can accept or decline. However, I would be stupid to decline. From what I understand, if you decline, you may be waiting another year before you receive another invite.
I talked with my recruiter yesterday and he said the next two send off dates for English teachers are in September 07 and March 08, sending volunteers to Central Asia and Eastern Europe in September and Africa in March. Though I'm not too keen on the Central Asia thing, I've kind of come to terms with it and have resolved that if it's where I'm supposed to be then I'll love it. So, I'm trying for September. Wish me luck!
