Prayer for my great-grandma

I just got word from my mom this weekend that my ailing 91 year old great-grandma has been given 1 week to 1 month to live. The hospital has informed my family that there is nothing they can do for her anymore and that the next time she needs to go to the hospital, to call the hospice service instead.

For those of you who don't know my family's bitter history or the numerous circles of controversy that have surrounded my great-grandma, you should know that she is a feisty old lady with a lot of problems with many people--especially those within my family. There will no doubt be an all-out, tooth-and-nail fight to claim inheritance of her valuables (that is, whatever's left of them) and I'm almost certain that the deep, cavernous crags between some people in my family will only lengthen and deepen with her passing (they're just that type of people--the type who never forget and never give up).

So please pray that God will intervene and begin working on those with broken hearts before her passing. Pray that when she does go, that there will be a release from bitterness and hatred towards each other. Pray that they will all stop focusing on the value of material things and start seeing the incomparable value of knowing a woman of great power, great intelligence and great experience.

Pray for those of us who have remained on the outside of all the drama; pray that we can provide Godly wisdom and insight to those who are in the middle of it and that we will be able to lead them into sufficient peace and forgiveness. Pray that my grandma (my great-grandma's daughter) will be able to finally let go of all the pain and suffering she has live with under my great-grandma's iron fist, and may she finally feel and rejoice in the freedom she has to live her life and love her love without restraint. And for her broken heart--pray that she can hold on to love and let the rest go; it's often the ones who hurt us the most that we love the most. Pray for my great-grandpa too, that he will not grieve for the passing of his wife but rejoice in knowing she's free from the earthly bonds of pain and suffering. Pray that her absence will give him a chance to strengthen his relationships with his children and that he will come to know and see God in new ways.

And finally, for my great-grandma. Pray that in the coming days and weeks that she will finally begin to see, accept and emulate the endless mercy and joy of knowing Christ. Pray that she will be able to forgive those who need to be forgiven and relinquish her quest for justice to God's mighty wisdom. Pray that her passing will be painless and peaceful because she has suffered under so many physical ailments over the past 10 years. She deserves an easy exit.

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. I will update you again when there is more to share. I doubt that I will be going home for any funeral arrangements but if my family sees it as necessary, pray that the money for a flight will be provided for.

Hi,

Wish you all the best for the coming period and hope that your grand-ma, relatives and you find comfort in the things which are going to happen in the near future.

Big prayers, Kort! It is hard to not feel homesick during times like these. Hang in there...
